Data rates are as advertised and do vary based on the type of vehicle it is plugged into. I do find fault with the suplied cable however. I can think of little reason to have a 4+ foot long cable for this device. It is wireless to most computers or phones so where the device lives is now just complicated by a long stiff cord. IF the manufacturer offered a dongle type solution I would order it. Overall 8 out of 10. For the premium price I expected premium equipment.
