>Review : XITECH ELM327 BLUETOOTH OBDII OBD2 DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER CAN ELM 327 SCANTOOL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAR CODE READER Currently using this at work!: For the price, this tool has far exceeded my expectations! I am an Automotive Technician, and the XR7 coupled with my Moto Droid running the Torque app has become my first line of attack when diagnosing a vehicle. On most cars I am able to plug in the XR7, fire up the Torque App and have codes read in under 1 minute! (Snap-On, are you listening????) The XR7 now resides in my uniform shirt pocket and I am only 1 minute away from checking and clearing codes at any given time. Granted, there are still some functions that require a more full featured scan-tool, but this is a limitation of the software app and not this hardware. Hopefully in the future we will see apps that include mode $06 capabilities, and bi-directional device activation. Once this occurs, the days of the $6,000 scan-tool will be numbered! I foresee a 10 inch Android tablet replacing most of my diagnostic equipment. In one device I will have a scan-tool, documentation (Alldata or the like), ability to look up and order parts from my local parts store, etc. Really exciting, albeit disruptive new technology (again Snap-on, are you listening???). As far as compatibility goes, so far the XR7 has connected flawlessly with every vehicle I have plugged it into, including a Jaguar and a Saab. It has worked well with Fords, which I understand can sometimes be a problem with cheaper OBD2 bluetooth adapters. If you have any further questions, please leave your e-mail in a comment and I will try to answer if I can! |
